From Publishers Weekly
The world is Raymond White's oyster: a working-class boy from Syracuse who made good, he's got a Princeton degree, rugged good looks and the gorgeous girlfriend to match, and partner status at a law firm by age 25. But in this lively modern-day retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo, just as White is poised to run for Congress, he is framed for murder, convicted and thrown into solitary confinement. After almost two decades of hard time, White is befriended by a fellow prisoner, lifer, "thief and part-time murderer," Lester Cole. "Exact revenge.... If you don't do it, you'll be a professional victim. You exact it and it's exact. Not just a reaction, but planned out. Precise. It needs to send a message," Cole advises, beginning his tutelage about life, literature and the location of a billion dollars worth of loot that they'll split after they escape. Cole dies in the breakout through the sewers of the Big House, but White goes on to retrieve the money and put in motion his reprisal plan against the former colleagues who framed him for murder. White takes down his enemies one by one in a fun, fast-paced update on the Dumas formula that will have readers booing the bad guys and rooting for the wronged hero.

From Booklist
In the early 1980s, Raymond White had it all--partnership at a law firm, a beautiful girlfriend about to become his wife, a close relationship with his father the rocker (in a quarry, that is), and the prospect of a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Why, then, when the novel opens, is he trapped in solitary confinement, doing time for a murder he didn't commit? That's the question he tries to answer, and he has plenty of time to work it out: what happened, who set him up, and how he plans to exact revenge. It's clear who masterminded the whole operation from the start, but we don't grasp how deep the deception goes. After 18 years, White is out of prison and dead set on making things right. What follows takes place at a heart-pounding pace, with suspense constantly building in a manner similar to The Fugitive, as White's chase for the truth forces his enemies to start chasing him. Green's writing can still be a bit heavy-handed, but he knows how to get a narrative steamroller moving and keep it going. Mary Frances Wilkens

Review
"Dark, gritty and engrossing. A provocative story of a lawyer who brews his own justice."

A Great Start - A Dissapointing Ending
By John R. Linnell
During the recounting of the story of the fall of Raymond White and his time in prison, the writing in this book is first rate and one that keeps the reader eagerly looking forward to seeing him carry out the title of the book and exact revenge on his enemies. However, the story of the prison escape, the subsequent identity change and his taking revenge not only require some suspension of belief, but his conduct seems out of character and in some ways the revenge that is taken is an anti-climax. That is disappointing to say the least, and have cost this writer at least two stars in my estimation.

Local "enjoyablility"
By Sandra H. Hatfield
Great book.. Love Tim's writing. His story lines are always enticing the reader to want more... His ability to "take you there" is a great asset. I am from his "neck of the woods" so I thoroughly enjoy the descriptive local settings.... A very multi-talented man....

A fun riff on THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO
By Jerry Saperstein
Very early in "Exact Revenge," the reader must make a decision. Am I angry because I am reading a retelling of "The Count Of Monte Cristo" set in the present day? Or do I lay back an enjoy the ride, preferably on a sunny day on the beach or a rainy day indoors.

There is no real brilliance here. The characters will be more than vaguely familiar to anyone who has read Monte Cristo. A promising young man is sent to prison, courtesy of his "friends" and a corrupt prosecutor, for a murder he didn't commit. For almost 20 years, our hero is anything but a model prisoner, spending most of his time in solitary confinement. But, lo and behold, he meets an elderly prisoner who befriends him, promises a way to escape and offers to share a fortune with him. Does all this sound familiar?

Anyway, they escape. But the benefactor is killed during the escape. No problem: Raymond makes it, hides out on an Indian reservation, locates the cabin where the treasure is hidden, becomes filthy rich, buys the Mets (no, I am not kidding) and a Gulfstream jet (still not kidding) and begins the process of taking "exact revenge" on his betrayers.

And that's what he does in some fairly entertaining ways.

Oh, he is also surprised by a thing or to, but I'm not going to ruin the surprise which won't be a surprise if you remember Count Of Monte Cristo.

Don't let my mocking tone fool you: this is actually a fun read. It won't keep you awake at night, will evoke a chuckle or two and for anyone who has ever had a desire to get "exact revenge" on their adversaries, it is a satisfying fantasy.

Jerry
